the images are very open to interpretation, and i like them like that. the background is purposefully empty (it actually took a bit of work to move stuff around, 'cause houses don't seem to really have empty spots). also, have you ever had one eye out of commission for a few hours? it's more limiting than i thought it'd be.
my digital photography instructor wanted an essay turned in with the images explaining the process. i explained the technical stuff mostly. and her response in the evaluation is:
"Your essay is helpful in terms of outlining process, but you don't discuss the point of origin for your images very much. You discuss dolls, but aren't dolls objects? And then you close by referencing abuse? So, is this an indirect comment on domestic abuse?"
and i'm reading this thinking like, what? i really don't know what she wants for the "origin" of the images. i had an image in my head of two dolls, bandaged and abused/bloody/broken, and i tried to recreate the images in my head via photomanipulation. and that's really it. i don't see why she expects some blueprint or something. i just have images in my head that i want to recreate.
i also liked this other comment of hers:
"You begin to insert the USB cables, but you do so in only a few images."
she wanted four images turned in. i added the usb cable in half of those images. i can't have a usb cable appear in more than a few images when only a few images are turned in.
anyway... i wish i had something profound to say in regards to these images, but i don't. my original idea was to have two dolls, indistinguishable, all bandaged and bloody, and one doll would be broken and the other doll would be interested in or concerned with the broken one. the instructor wants these to be a purposeful statement on domestic abuse or addiction or virtual women or schoolgirls or hell i dunno extreme clumsiness, but, ummm... i don't feel like making a statement. however, in terms of recreating what was in my head, i did pretty well.

Thank u so much!
